The small, well-preserved Fürsteneck Castle was once built as a border fortress for the Bishops of Passau against the Dukes of Bavaria. After Passau fell to Bavaria, the castle was also handed over. Since then, it has changed hands several more times. Today, the castle houses a cozy country inn and the information center of the Ilz Nature Park.
