Anyone who enters the bright St. Martinus Church for the first time, which was rebuilt in 1972 except for the bell tower, is immediately amazed by the many works of art from several centuries that one sees there. For example, a Pieta by Heinrich Douvermann, an old statue of the Virgin Mary with an altar case added later, a pulpit, several figures of saints and the high altar. The Protestants really got going. The refugees from the Palatinate, who actually wanted to go to America and ended up on the Gocher Heide, built two churches in 1775 and 1779, one Lutheran and one Reformed. When the approximately 1300 Catholics in Pfalzdorf wanted to follow suit at the beginning of the 19th century, they were probably quite happy that the old monastery church in Graefenthal was to be demolished by order of the French rulers. So the building materials and a large part of the baroque furnishings were used in St. Martinus Pfalzdorf. Attempts to enter the church through the side entrance.
