In 1928, the board of the Municipal Brewery decided to announce an architectural competition for a new residential building on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the founding of the Czechoslovak Republic. It was to be ceremoniously opened in 1932, on the ninetieth anniversary of the founding of the Municipal Brewery (today Plzeňský Prazdroj). The building included a gatekeeper's house and an entrance gate with two accesses to the brewery grounds. In 1932, the entire complex of five houses with 32 employee apartments, a kitchen, dining rooms, a shop, and a refreshment area was completed.

The twelve-meter-high observation tower was built in 2021 together with an information center and a gallery at the side entrance of the Pilsen main train station from Šumavská street. It was named after the local name for the area near the station.
