The Kossau is a stream in the Plön district, approximately 25 km long. It originates in the Rixdorf Pond near Rixdorf, flows through the Tresdorf Lake, and finally empties into the Grosser Binnensee (Great Inland Lake). The Kossau Valley is an important nature reserve with a diverse flora and fauna. The stream is largely untouched and, together with the wet meadows of the narrow valley floor, forms a valuable habitat.

Waterneverstorf Manor (1730) is located on the western shore of the Great Inland Lake. The centerpiece is the white-plastered neoclassical manor house. Its gable bears the coats of arms of the Blome and Rantzau families. Next door is a striking red brick building, the so-called "Baupferdestall" (building horse stable). This dates back to the Baroque period, was remodeled and expanded in the 19th century, and today stands as a testament to the estate's historic outbuildings. The picturesque boathouses are located by the water. Tip: You can freely walk along the paths on the estate grounds.

Port Closure The port's approach buoy was removed by the authorities without replacement, permanently ending sea access. The decision to close came as a surprise to many, especially since the port had previously been classified as an emergency port and the state of Schleswig-Holstein had covered the costs of the necessary dredging. There are currently no plans to reopen or renovate the port. The owner has not yet commented on future uses of the site. For water sports enthusiasts who have previously used the Lippe harbor, the Wendtorf Marina offers an alternative location.
