The current Koepelkerk with its octagonal dome was built in 1779 in Berltsum because the previous church had fallen into disrepair and could no longer be restored. Both the church and the organ are now a Rijksmonument. The church was repainted inside and out in 2015. The bell of the Koepelkerk was restored in December 2017 because it threatened to crack.
