Saint CAECILIA, to whom this church was dedicated, is primarily responsible for good sound in the great circle of saints - if one can put it so casually here - because she is the patron saint of church music. Many religious choirs are named after her. The dates of her life from the corresponding saint's legend are not historically confirmed, but she is said to be a martyr from the beginning of the third century. The patron saint's feast day, i.e. her memorial day in the calendar of saints, is on November 22nd in all major Christian denominations.

The St. Cecilia Church is a national monument. As early as 1834, there was a so-called Waterstaat Church on the square in front of this church, the name for churches that were built in part of the 19th century under the supervision of the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management. If you look closely you can still see the contours of that church in the square. The church as it stands here now was built just before WWI and expanded in the late 1850s.
