The Koopmanspolder is a testing ground for future water management. The ordinary grassland outside the dikes has been redesigned by a visual artist. From above, it resembles the whirlpool of an emptying pool. With a flexible water level, the area has now been transformed into an interplay of nature, water, landscape art, and recreation. The diversity is attractive to all kinds of plants and animals, especially marsh and water birds, which come from the IJsselmeer to the sheltered polder to rest and gather food. Fish-friendly inlet and outlet systems have been installed for fish. The Koopmanspolder is accessible from July 15th to October 15th. From the West Frisian Ring Dike, you can reach the viewing point in the middle of the whirlpool via a shell path and wander along the dikes.

The Drommedaris served as a defensive gate for a long time and protected the harbor. The building, which dates back to 1540, was used as a guard barracks and prison. Today it is the most famous building in Enkhuizen.
