The ruins of Haus Murach Castle are almost more impressive from a distance than up close, so you should take your time to enjoy this vantage point of the castle and Obermurach.

At the former train station in Oberviechtach there is a historic technical treat - not just for railway enthusiasts. One of the oldest Hanomag locomotives still preserved in the world has found its well-deserved resting place in an architecturally exceptionally successful "glass locomotive shed". The B-coupler, i.e. two axles, was built in the Hanomag works in 1899 under the number 3427. Its design corresponds to the first Bockerln that served on the Nabburg-Oberviechtach-Schönsee railway line from 1904 onwards.

If you're walking quickly, you could walk past it without paying attention. But the beech tree doesn't deserve that. It would definitely take two grown-up people to hug the trunk. You can see that it has already experienced a lot. Nevertheless, it stands proudly in the middle of the forest.
