Not far from the Ellbachsee viewpoint. Slightly below the main path. The access was very icy today.

In front of the town church, I stop at the Barbel Fountain, built by the Freudenstadt artist David Fahrner. The barbels, trout-like fish, are the heraldic animals of Freudenstadt and are taken from the four-part Württemberg ducal coat of arms, which visitors also find arranged around the clock of the town church: - the stag antlers of the Württemberg count's coat of arms - the dice of the Duchy of Teck - the Imperial Storm Flag - and the fish of the County of Mömpelgard (present-day Montbéliard in France). Fun fact: This coat of arms inspired children back then to create a counting rhyme: "Gitterle, Gäbele, Vögele, Fisch – und du bisch!"
