In 1710, a church with a tower for three bells was built by the master builder Johann Brenner (1664-1749) of Gräsalp, in the dimensions it remained until 1957. The nave received a wood-paneled ceiling. In 1796, this ceiling was removed, and three local stucco artists, Josef Anton Natter (1768-1853), Josef Simon Moosbrugger (1774-1831), and Franz Michael Felder (1759-1848), Kronenwirt, created a plaster ceiling (mirror vault) and decorated the frames for the paintings and windows with rich stucco, which still adorns the church today and gives it a welcoming character. In the same year, Joh. Gaissenhoff of Pfronten painted the vault frescoes: in the choir vault, the Assumption of Mary, surrounded by images of Saints Nepomuk, Wendelin, Alois, and Joseph; In the nave, the Last Supper and the Resurrection of Christ; in the hollows of the vault, in medallions, the four great Doctors of the Church.
