The current church building Construction history The existing parish church is the largest church in the Hinterwald and was built in the neo-Renaissance style according to a plan by master builder Seraphin Pümpel (1847–1930) after only one year of construction. The lower part of the 15th-century church tower was left as it was. To finance the project, each household in the village had to contribute four percent of its assets, divided into four semi-annual installments. This meant that the construction could be largely paid for with their own resources. The foundation stone was laid on May 30, 1907, and the consecration took place on October 28, 1908. St. Jodok was again chosen as the church's patron saint. Chapel of Mercy, Bezau monastery church Since the last renovation of the Bezau monastery church took place in 1982, a renovation committee was formed in 2010. Chairman Jakob Rüscher was happy to show the work he had created, from the beautiful wooden benches to the restored ceiling, which now has a blue border again. It was not without pride that DI Helmut Batlogg was able to announce that, in addition to the donations from the 12 civil parishes, the state, the diocese and the monument office, it was above all a building block campaign in the parish that brought in a large part of the renovation costs.
