Percy Bysshe Shelley was christened here but they don’t acknowledge it as he became an atheist, amongst many other great things!

The old railway station platforms, on what was the line to Cranleigh, have been made accessible to the public this year. The area has been reinstated and opened up to walkers and cyclists, along with a new section of the Downs Link between Mill lane and Christ's Hospital. There was previously a road diversion around this section of the old line. The removal of this "missing link" on the Downs Link has opened up the route to many users who may have been deterred by the section on the roads. The space on the platforms is a bit bare at the moment, apart from station signs and information board, but it's a good spot to pause and soak up some of the history.
