The Pilgrims way is an excellent long distance off road route, however due to it being a bronze age track way over a couple of thousand years some parts of it have become hollow ways and are essentially impassible or very heavy going in wet conditions, at worst it's only traversable by mountain bike in wet periods.

Stayed here for a night on my way from London to Folkestone. Very bike friendly, great food for dinner and breakfast. Highly recommend.

This is NOT a path for the faint hearted! It's rough, very bumpy in parts, slippery when wet. I ride a hybrid - and it's not a path I would take again. It needs a specialist mountain bike.

Be careful re speed; with the narrow roads, I had a tractor come straight down towards me. Had to turn around and go in the direction of the tractor as there was no space. Good views and if you're looking to get out of the city, doesn't get much better and quieter than this!

Beast of a climb up from the Pilgrims Way on a rutted, flinty track, but well worth the effort for the nice, flowy single track through the woods along the top.

Typically, I experienced 6 cars during my ascent.. road quality to be wary off too
