Zeillern Castle was built on the ruins of a medieval moated castle, first mentioned in 1052 in connection with a "Chuno von Cidelaren." In 1605, Wolf Friedrich Freiherr von Tattenbach acquired the property, remodeled it in the Renaissance style, and gave it its characteristic appearance, which remains to this day.
