A beautiful trail above the Arkansas River with views of the surrounding canyon. It leads through several tunnels. Unfortunately we could not continue the trail because it is closed in early summer due to the offspring of protected animals. But even the short section is worth it.

The prime hiking season is from late spring through fall, typically May to October. Summer offers lush green landscapes, while fall brings beautiful aspen colors. Snow can linger at higher elevations into late spring and return in the fall, so always check conditions before you go. The range is named for the snow it gets, so winter hiking requires appropriate gear and experience.
The Wet Mountains are generally less crowded than other, more famous Colorado ranges, offering a more secluded hiking experience.
