Over the years I have been to almost every English cathedral. This one is in a class of its own and also free (they suggest a paltry £5 per adult as a donation) We were so impressed by the sheer size and the many chapels. You can almost get lost. There are also quiet corners for a prayer. I only regretted not booking a guided tour, it would have been helpful. Nevertheless, great. By the way, also a nice gift shop and a café

There is only one access point! Look at the map, otherwise you will walk around it unpleasantly - like we did 😜 Speaking of 'around': It's not really worth going around the castle. Either visit it or stroll in the park.

Great place for bird watching. you can either go onto the reserve itself for which their is a small fee but you have access to the hides or use the public footpaths which circle the reserve and provide great views.

Plenty of cakes, breakfast choice, hot drinks, shop and toilet. Friendly staff and customers!! Also freshly cooked pizza and a beer on a Friday night!
