As well as good selection of filled jacket potatoes and sandwiches, lunch also includes specials each day. Very dog friendly, they have an area of tables by the bar that is hard floor where dogs are welcome, bowls of water bought to the tables. The beer was good too

Large historic public park in the heart of Southampton, covering about 365 acres of open grassland, woodland, and ornamental lakes. Originally medieval grazing land, it became a formal public space in the 19th century and remains a vital green area for the city. The Common is home to a wide range of wildlife, including birds and bats, and contains notable features such as the Cemetery Lake, the Ornamental Lake, the Old Cemetery, and the Cenotaph war memorial. Itβs a popular venue for community events, festivals, concerts, and sports, and offers extensive paths for walking, running, and cycling. Today, Southampton Common is valued as both a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a much-loved urban park, providing a mix of recreation, history, and natural beauty in the centre of the city.

Lovely house and grounds to wonder pre/post walk or both. Great facilities with two places to eat and drink. National Trust members can gain access for free. Peak times and seasonal interests can be very busy.

Lovely little community cafe in village hall with superb coffee and cake. Only open on a Tuesday between 10 and 1230 but we were lucky and they opened early for us!!

Unless you are good at trials riding, what is shown in the photo is not for a bike. However it is a fair destination to entertain young children mid ride. The surrounding woods have plenty of bike trails if you look for them, they are just not signposted.
