Very rocky hard packed trail up to the summit. If you don’t have suspension you will definitely feel it through the bike into your body! I’m speaking from experience 😺

Take a few mins to sit on one of the benches and take in the scenary. This is a good rest spot as there's a cafe where you can get some food or just sit outside with your pack lunch. This is a very popular touristy destination so expect it to be busy in the summer months

This valley is offering a special microclimate, much milder and without the heavy winds of the open planes. plants are growing here which only a few hundred yards away have not succeeded to survive. Even rhododendron is growing in big bushes. if someone wanted to live in Exmoor this valley would be a perfect hideaway. No surprise that apparently there was apparently an ancient settlement. Remains however are rather scattered.
