Numerous streams and pools also ensure a particularly rich and lively forest landscape. The unpaved Heilig-Geestgoedpad is a great start to explore the different corners of the Makegemse Bossen. Pause here on the flank of the Halsberg! This sign marks the organic farm 'Den Halsberg', a wonderful and small-scale agro-ecological initiative where seasonal vegetables, fruit, and herbs are grown with great passion directly from the field. For the sporty types, this location is also synonymous with character: the surrounding unpaved roads and the approaching asphalt climb (average 6.1%) will immediately test your legs. A perfect example of how agriculture, nature, and outdoor recreation go beautifully hand in hand here!

Take your time for an atmospheric stop in this relaxing park. You are standing here on 'De Rotse', the historical cradle of the spring village Dikkelvenne. In the center glitters the neo-Gothic Saint Christian Chapel from 1895, built in honor of the saint who, according to legend, caused the numerous water springs in the region to emerge with her staff. Surrounded by monumental trees, green benches, and filtered sunlight, this is the ultimate place of silence to recharge, dive into history, or simply enjoy the serene atmosphere.

The naming of the slow road d’ Hekseketse was a tribute to the operators of the café De Betoverde Maan. In the logo were 2 witches flying on a broomstick. De Betoverde Maan was run for 15 years (until August 2016) by best friends Lutgarde Matthys and Brigitte Moreels. In the vernacular, they were better known as the witches 'Lut' and 'Biep'. The unique name of the café was therefore directly linked to their witch nicknames. Now the eatery Het Eeuwig Licht is located there.
