Scharfenberg Castle is the remains of a ruined high medieval spur castle that once stood on a rocky spur at a foothill of the Scharfenberg mountain in the municipality of Ursensollen in the Upper Palatinate district of Amberg-Sulzbach in Bavaria. It was the ancestral seat of the Scharfenberg family, who burned down the Kastl monastery in 1217. The complex is listed as an archaeological monument in the Bavaria Atlas as the "medieval castle ruins of Scharfenberg." Source: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burgstall_Scharfenberg

Today, only a few locals recognize the former shelter of the Finsterhüll farm in the depression just before the edge of the forest. If you look to the left from the information board, you can still see the depression. The information board is very interesting and informative.

This bridge is truly a force to be reckoned with and a masterpiece of its time. I was really surprised when I drove over this bridge.

Minnesänger fountain This fountain made of Flossenbürg granite was erected in 1996 directly in front of the town hall of Ursensollen (Rathausstraße 1) on the occasion of the 850th anniversary of the town of Ursensollen. The bronze cast statue from Sabine Mädl's artist workshop in Kotzheim represents Ursensollen's most famous son, the minnesinger Albrecht von Scharffenberg. The beginning of Ursensollen's history is closely linked to the Scharffenberger noble family, whose ancestral seat was about a kilometer southwest of the town. Albrecht lived in the second half of the 13th century. He was a fanatically religious and very well-read man with extensive historical knowledge. Three of his main works are known: "Seifried von Ardemont" and "Merlin". They tell of battles, adventures and love affairs. "The Younger Titurel" is an opulent song verse epic with over 6000 verses. The town hall fountain was largely financed by the proceeds donated by Ursensollen's clubs on the occasion of the 850th anniversary celebrations. Source: www.ursensollen.de
