The Herpelstraat is a magnificent, unpaved hollow road that quietly winds its way through the landscape. This segment is a treat for gravel bikers and trail runners thanks to its challenging double cart tracks. When climbing, strategically choose your track: the right side often offers the most grip on the fine gravel, while the left side tests your technique with pure Flemish loam. A quiet, traffic-free connection that breathes the real, rugged character of the Maarkedal valley.

Mountain biking in the Muziekbos? Respect nature! The Muziekbos is a beautiful but fragile nature reserve. Therefore, free mountain biking on the forest paths is not allowed. Cycling is only permitted on the officially designated and signposted MTB routes. This way, we jointly protect the vulnerable nature, including the wild bluebells, and ensure that hikers can enjoy the forest safely. Those who like to go out with a mountain bike can use the official Red MTB loop of Ronse. This challenging route of approximately 33 kilometers runs partly through the Muziekbos and can be combined with the blue loop of Maarkedal or the red loop of Kluisbergen. The narrower walking and play paths are exclusively for pedestrians. However tempting some forest paths may be: stay on the signposted routes with your bike and help protect this unique piece of nature. In short: enjoy the trails, follow the arrows, and leave nature undisturbed.

This is Kasteel Ter Beck (so-called "Ter Beck", "Ter Beke(n)" or "Terbeek"), a secluded former castle of the eponymous former lordship. According to 16th and 17th-century archival documents, a "feudal moated motte". On the Ferraris map, it is mentioned as "Maison ter Beke", now the farm "Ter Beek". It was originally owned by the Knights Templar. The formerly moated castle, possibly replacing an older farm called "Goed ter Beken", a fief held from the lordship ten Doorne. In the mid-19th century, it was located on a rectangular island, surrounded by now largely filled-in moats and a large, two-part rectangular pond (see Popp and Vandermaelen maps). Formerly with a watermill; first mentioned in 1421 and demolished around 1820. (Inventory of Immovable Heritage)

Cobbled road with a view of Mont-Saint-Aubert (for those walking/climbing northwards) or Cain and Tournai (for those walking/descending southwards).

When you begin the climb to Mont-Saint-Aubert in Goudinière (near the square farm La Cense des Sources), the path initially leads through meadows. The final section runs through the forest. This section is a bit more challenging, partly because it's a bit steeper, and partly because it can be quite slippery. This combination can be treacherous in wet conditions.

The bridge itself isn't much. There are actually two of the same type just a few hundred meters apart. Both cross the Gaverbeek stream, which runs parallel to the Trimaarzate, the green walking and cycling route on the old Ronse-Kortrijk railway line. The bridges allow you to walk through the grass on the other side of the Gaverbeek (although not yet designated as a walking path on Komoot, it is certainly easily walkable) instead of on the paved Trimaarzate.
