It's expensive but if you're thirsty, what the heck

Chilled drinks, snacks, and souvenirs are sold right on the crater rim. There are a few places to sit, some of which are even shaded. I think the prices are very fair, considering the chilled drinks and the transportation up there. A glass of water costs €1.50, a glass of wine €2, and a cold beer €4.

A worthwhile area to see the life of the “Romans”

Unfortunately you can't do a walk around the crater. The only toilet is at the entrance in a... "cafe" of sorts, which isn't very clean and didn't flush when we were there. Nice view from the top but the wait to get in (only at your reserved time, no going earlier!) with no shade isn't fun. Timing your arrival and departure will be difficult, just go early and hope for the best!
