I walked the path from the Edelrauthütte to the Hochfeilerhütte on 29.8.2026. The ropes have been renewed and the ladder is new. The ladder is approx. 8m and solidly installed but seems wobbly. I secured myself with a harness and slings as well as carabiners on the descent. The crossing to the glacier requires attention. Crampons or spikes are required. The glacier crossing to the Hochfeilerhütte should be done slightly to the right. To the left, crevasses need to be crossed. The marginal crevasses were not difficult on 29.8.2026. The lateral moraine was slippery and loose. Stones roll down when walking upwards or downwards.

A beautiful climb to the hut, but it's closed for renovations in 2025. You can't even reach the summit because of this closure. The climb is still worthwhile, as nobody really climbs here and the view is beautiful.

I don't know why someone just rated all my photos of the summit cross as "not relevant". Has someone still not realized that the cross is new since October 2021? If someone doesn't like the cross, that's why my photos aren't irrelevant.

The Rifugio Passo di Vizze is located at 2,276 meters above sea level on the Italian-Austrian border, in the Ötztal Alps. It offers a refreshment service with typical cuisine and the possibility of overnight stays. It is open seasonally and for updated information on opening periods and reservations, we recommend visiting the official website of the refuge: www.pfitscherjochhaus.com

From this vantage point on the trails above Vipiteno and the hamlet of Prati, you can enjoy a remarkable view of the valleys of the Isarco and the Rio di Vizze. The latter flows into the Isarco just south of Vipiteno.
