The Forchtenstein bathing lake is located at the foot of the Rosaliengebirge in the Rosalia-Kogelberg Nature Park and, with its excellent water quality, shady sunbathing lawns and natural surroundings, offers a popular destination for swimmers and those seeking relaxation. The lake is fed by the Haidbach, is about 170 meters long, 150 meters wide, and reaches a depth of over six meters at its deepest point. The water surface is around 15,000 square meters, and the bathing beach is partly sandy and partly grassy.

The Heuberg transmitter, less commonly Mattersburg-Heuberg, is a transmission facility of ORS. Numerous hiking trails meet at Forchtenstein Castle. The castle is therefore the hub for hikes to the Rosalia and beyond. First we go along Reserlgasse and then we join the Reitsteig. From there it is a little steeper through the forest to the Rosalien Chapel. The somewhat sweaty climb through the Rosalia forests is rewarded with the most beautiful panoramic view at the summit of Heuberg, 748m, where the Rosalien Chapel is also located. The Rosalien Chapel is unique in Burgenland due to its early Baroque interior, which has been preserved in its entirety, and is visited again and again by numerous pilgrims. It is particularly popular for weddings and baptisms. Up there, where heaven and earth seem to touch, you can enjoy a unique view over the whole of northern Burgenland, deep into the Vienna Basin and Hungary, and also over the Bucklige Welt, the Rax, Hohe Wand and Schneeberg. It is particularly enchanting up here when there is snow, because you feel like you are in a "winter wonderland".
