Perfect for a quick espresso, but eating out...too crowded and too expensive. The main attraction is 500m away anyway: the towers.

Beautiful refuge in the Cinque Torri area. From here you can start various tours, best planned on the large maps outside the hut.

Federa Lake, cradled in the heart of the Dolomites along the Alta Via n.1, is a shimmering gem that enchants hikers with its alpine beauty. Nestled amid towering peaks and rugged cliffs, the lake reflects the grandeur of the surrounding landscape. As you approach Federa Lake on the Alta Via n.1, the panorama unfolds, revealing the turquoise waters mirroring the rocky spires above. The air is crisp, carrying the scent of mountain flora, and the stillness is interrupted only by the occasional rustle of wildlife.

the hike from the closest cable car (Rifugio Averau) on a summer day is similar to the exit of a subway station in term of people density ! Fortunately, the view on the top is rewarding. And the best comes when you go down on the north ridge: after 5 minutes, the crowd is behind and you can enjoy a very nice walk. Beware of the path: 2 short sections of 40m are equipped with a cable. Easy if you have a sure foot.

Great place for refreshment and lodging, courteous staff. At 15min there is the Coldai lake where it is worth visiting it and going around it to enjoy further panoramas, between valleys and mountains.

Great location, good food, very friendly staff. No water for showering, hardly any power sockets in the rooms, so a power bank is necessary.

The Alfredo Sonino al Coldai refuge is located in the spectacular Val de le Ziolere, at the northern end of the majestic Civetta group. Usually open from mid-June to mid-September, it has 88 beds. The refuge was opened in the summer of 1905. A year later, thanks to the financial support of the Sonino family, the structure was enlarged for the first time. In 1932 it was renamed in memory of the mountaineer Adolfo Sonino of Venice, who had had an accident two years earlier at Punta Fiames, north of Cortina d'Ampezzo, in the Pomagagnon group. In 1939, after the introduction of the Italian racial laws, the CAI had to cancel the renaming. In the autumn of 1944, the refuge was set on fire by German troops and RSI units during an action against the Italian partisans. Between 1946 and 1948 the refuge was rebuilt and inaugurated with the name of Rifugio Adolfo Sonino al Coldai. From here you can admire splendid views of the Val Zoldana and you have a privileged observation point on Monte Pelmo, as well as on the imposing silhouettes of Cristallo and Antelao, or on the profile of Croda da Lago. It is also possible to climb the Cima di Coldai, at an altitude of 2,403 metres, but the climb to the summit rock is exposed, inclined and unsecured. The trail has technical sections, making it difficult to maintain a running pace.
