The month of May gives its name to the "maiolere", dwellings where livestock was kept while waiting to be taken to high-altitude pastures in summer. They consisted of a stable/hayloft and a cheese room, where milk and cheeses were stored, and were built in the shade of a beech tree so that it could provide shelter from the heat. The roof was particular, made in steps. Il Fagheron is the oldest beech tree in the province of Belluno, with an estimated age of 300/350 years.
