The Bopparder Hamm is perhaps the best-known vineyard site in the Mittelrheintal wine-growing region. Its orientation, in combination with the typical slate soil, is a wonderful prerequisite, especially for Riesling, but also increasingly for Spätburgunder. At almost 75 hectares, it is also the largest contiguous vineyard area on the left bank of the Rhine in this region. Bopparder Hamm is the umbrella term, which is further subdivided into eight individual sites, six of which are classified as VDP.Große Lage. With a slope of up to 80%, pure manual labor is possible in the vast majority of places. Historically, wine has been documented since the 4th century (as part of the Roman legionaries' provisions), which was later continued primarily by monasteries and nobles. Not-so-much-Fun-Fact: Between Boppard and Spay, at the foot of the Bopparder Hamm, the village of Peternach existed until the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648), which was completely destroyed in this war and not rebuilt.

From the Rhine, you have great views of the town of Boppard. We came by ship and were fascinated by this view. It wasn't crowded at all as it is May and it rained now and then. Highly recommended
