San Vito is a very young martyr, who lived during the 3rd century AD and who is part of the 14 Holy Helpers, whose intercession was considered particularly effective in illnesses or for specific needs. In this regard, legend has it that Vito healed the son of Diocletian, his contemporary, who suffered from epilepsy.
