The forest along the Sihl River is very pristine. The paths are wonderful for hiking and are very well maintained. For the most part, you hike very close to the water.

The Sihl – wild and untamed, yet also calm and sparkling – is inviting for a swim 😉

The hike along the Sihl riverbank trail offers beautiful paths, well-maintained trails, rock tunnels, mystical sections of forest, some of which appear very pristine, enormous boulders, and the constant sound of the Sihl river and its many tributaries. Some of these streams are wild and awe-inspiring, while others are calm, sparkling, and inviting for a swim 😉

Access is very easy here and the water is calm. In summer, it's probably one of the coolest places in the canton of Zug.

A beautiful place for a leisurely stroll! Please note that Hüttnersee is a nature reserve, home to many rare plants and vulnerable bird species. Therefore, please stick to the official paths and keep your dogs on a leash where signage indicates that dogs must be kept on a leash. Thank you for your consideration! https://www.zh.ch/de/umwelt-tiere/naturschutz/naturschutzgebiete.html

The yellow-bellied toad is endangered in Switzerland, even strongly endangered regionally and has suffered a sharp decline in population in the last quarter of a century. The main causes for the loss of habitats are the drainage of wetlands, the technification of agriculture and the construction industry and the clearing of marginal structures and wasteland. Small occurrences with less than 20 animals are also important. Every mini biotope counts.

The run-of-river power plants on the Sihl used the water of the Sihl in the Sihl Valley almost continuously from Lake Sihl (889 m above sea level) about 40 kilometers downstream to the confluence (402 m above sea level) with the Limmat in the city of Zurich. Hütten is the third one, first built in 1894 to 1895, renovated and fully automated in 1965 to 1966.
