San Costabile was born right on Monte Tresino, and is still recognized as the patron saint of Castellabate. The only Saint from Cilento seated at the glory of the altars, he grew up and trained from the age of 7 in the Abbey of the Holy Trinity in Cava dé Tirreni from where he often returned to his native land to preach love for the Christ who had him captivated as a boy and then called him, in the glory of Paradise, on 17 February 1124 at just over 53 years of age. The castle population had already proclaimed him Patron, entrusting him with the growth and development of the town perched on a hill overlooking the entire coastal strip dotted with the important inhabited centers of Santa Maria, San Marco, Ogliastro Marina and Lago with the islet of Licosa in a few hundred meters from the Punta of the same name.
