From the website of the Municipality of Travacò Siccomario: The sanctuary of Santa Maria del Novello stands in the floodplain area next to the left bank of the Po. The river flows a few hundred meters away. Popular tradition wants it to protect from the floods of the Great River. The construction, built on an ancient chapel and carried out by the Bonacossa family, dates back to the end of the 1500s. Inside the sanctuary it is still possible to admire the original fresco of the ancient chapel. In a state of ruin at the end of the 1800s, the building was recovered in 1922 and since then its rebirth has been celebrated on the last Sunday of August.
