The Capitanio is a historic motor vessel from 1926 and will be transformed into a sailing museum for its centenary in 2026.

Built in 1926, "La Capitanio" was originally equipped with a steam engine, but after a few years it was replaced with a diesel engine. Her name was a celebration of the beatification of Bartolomea Capitanio, founder of the order of the Sisters of Charity, which took place the year of the ship's construction. She was used as a ferry for the Società di Navigazione a Vapore on Lake Iseo until its dissolution in 1932. In the 1950s, she was used as a tug for Italsider, hauling railway barges from the Lovere plant (now the Lucchini RS plant) to the Paratico dock. Upon her decommissioning, she was successively purchased by various private owners who saved her from decommissioning and, through various refits, brought her to her current magnificent state. The superstructures have been changed numerous times, but the sheet metal hull has remained unchanged since 1926. Starting in 2023, "La Capitanio," thanks to a joint effort by the new owners and the institutions, aims to become a heritage and historical memory of navigation on Lake Iseo, sailing toward the 100-year milestone in all its splendor. A charming church with a single nave, with a wooden roof surmounted by slate slabs. It has a large portico, which surrounds it on three sides, and large windows that allow the faithful, when the small church is full, to attend the services even from the outside. The massive entrance door is, in my opinion, of polished chestnut.

Huge beech trees lining the road frame incredible views of vast pastures where the backdrop appears, in all its grandeur, the southern slope of the Presolana mountain massif, still snow-capped in the ravines and less exposed sides.
