Lumignano is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful villages in the Berici Hills. Construction of the church of San Maiolo began in 1937, replacing the existing one. Restoration work has recently been completed.

September 14, 2025, Covolo Murato

A còvolo is a large natural ravine in a vertical rock face, carved into the karst rock by atmospheric agents: the eastern slope of the Berici Hills is full of them. These caves have been used as dwellings since prehistoric times, both by the giant cave bear (speleo bear) and by humans. The distinctive feature of this cave is the medieval wall, built to enclose it and use it both as a shelter and as a fortified lookout point overlooking the plain and the Euganean Hills. It is also called Covolo del Ritiro, Covolo Fortificato, Grotta del Muro, or Covolo del Merlo: the latter name comes from a certain Jijo Merlo, a shepherd who climbed up here with his sheep until after World War I. It seems that from the 20th century until the 1950s, it was also inhabited by an eclectic and legendary figure from Castegnero. Today the cave is used as a bivouac, especially by climbers who climb the adjacent cliffs, so much so that there is a table with benches, pots and pans and a corner for a fire and barbecue.
