The presence of a castle in Vigolzonum or Vigolizonum seems to date back to 1095. The layout of the castle, which combines the needs of a good defense with the comforts of a stately home, is developed on a rectangular plan with two towers arranged at opposite corners. The largest, to the north-west, also served as a keep: with a square base and adorned with swallowtail battlements, it towered above the drawbridge by about 40 metres. Of the imposing building, the two ancient-looking towers stand out where the inscription is located which, welcoming guests, reports news on the foundation of the castle
