The beginning of the route is very steep but doable on asphalt, how the trail starts especially if it's wet or muddy, some sections have to be done on foot.

At the pass of Monte Busca, along the Via Portichese, you can discover a unique and special place, whose panorama is dominated by a flame that never goes out. In reality, the name is misleading: it is not a real volcano, but a natural gas leak from the ground. (Source: https://tredozioturismo.it/about/ )

The fortification, made of stone and mortar, was built around the year 1000 (11th century), probably at the behest of the Counts Calboli di Calbola. ... From its origin, the purpose of the construction was to defend the ancient medieval village from enemies, as well as to control the Apennine passes in the area. ... Due to the earthquake of 1661, the Castellaccio was largely destroyed. Of the original, extensive castle, only its robust 15-meter-high tower (the castle's keep), an ancient watchtower, and large portions of the recently uncovered curtain wall remain. The building can only be visited from the outside. The site is currently undergoing restoration work and access to the surrounding area is not possible. This cross was restored by my great-uncle Don Giovanni Tassinari, parish priest of Pereta in 1941... the plaque at the base of the Cross commemorates him
