The large lake was dry in September 2026 in any case. In that case, you'd better take the low path (through the lake).

A great team runs this guesthouse. We had such a laugh. And the food is fantastic. The sleeping accommodation is fine.

On the banks of the Lumi i Thethit lie the remains of old stone buildings, silent witnesses to the former village life in the valley. The walls, built from rough limestone without mortar, show the traditional architectural style of the Albanian Alps. Between grass and bushes, they mark the place where farms and storage rooms once stood, abandoned after floods and the relocation of the village to higher ground.

Along the clear Lumi in Theth lies a wooden terrace that literally hangs over the water. Blue metal supports carry the platform, where hikers can rest between the rustling of the forest and the babbling of the river. Judging by the photos, the whole thing has evolved significantly over time.

In the heart of the valley stands the stone church of Theth, built in 1892 as a meeting place for the mountain community. During the atheistic period 1967–1990 it was closed and transformed into a health and maternity post, a role it fulfilled for decades. After the fall of the regime, the church regained its original function. The wooden roof and slender tower stand out sharply against the peaks of the Accursed Mountains, while inside the same simplicity and silence reign again — a place where tradition, landscape, and mountain tranquility meet.

The bridge at Prekal is a weathered concrete span over the Kiri River, built at a time when mountain villages were connected to Shkodër via simple infrastructure; today it marks the point where the valley opens up and the asphalt gives way to a rough mountain route, with low railings, a cracked deck, and a view of the densely forested slopes that enclose the Kiri Gorge.

Idyllic, picturesque place. Worth the hike. The restaurant upstairs offers a pleasant break and is the ideal photo spot.

Deep in the valley of Theth lies the Blue Eye: a clear blue spring that forms in a natural pool between limestone and moss. The water comes directly from an underground karst spring and remains ice-cold, even in the middle of summer. Around the pool are smooth rocks, small waterfalls, and turquoise streams that together form one of the most photogenic spots in Theth National Park. The path to it winds along the river, through narrow passages and over wooden bridges, until you reach the pool where light and water create an almost surreal color.
