Mountain biking around Niehl, a district of Cologne, is primarily characterized by its flat, riverside terrain along the Rhine, which is not conducive to technical mountain bike trails. While Niehl itself is largely industrial and residential, the broader Cologne region offers diverse mountain biking opportunities. These routes often extend into nearby natural areas like the Königsforst and Wahner Heide, providing forest trails and varied landscapes. Dedicated mountain bike trails directly in Niehl Cologne are limited, requiring riders to explore areas further afield for more challenging terrain.

The attraction of everyone taking a picture as the king and queen is immense. I don't think anyone, young or old, will pass by without doing so.

The menhir stands northwest of Ferschweiler in the forest at a crossroads of hiking trails. The Fraubillenkreuz is a menhir that is now about 3.30 meters high and has been reworked into the shape of a cross. It is estimated that it used to be over 4 meters high. The menhir was probably reworked into a cross during the Christianization of the region in the 9th century. According to legend, it was the Irish wandering monk St. Willibrord from the Echternach monastery himself who carved it. In addition, niches were carved into both flat sides of the menhir, apparently for figures of saints. Source: https://tw.strahlen.org/praehistorie/rheinlandpfalz/ferschweilerkreuz.html
