April 19, 2026, Schniftenberger Mühle

First documented mention of the Schniftenbergerhof in 1182. The year of construction of the mill is unknown. The mill is already mentioned in documents in the 13th century. Parts of the north and west walls date from the Renaissance, as indicated by the surrounds. The house and cellar were probably built around 1580. It is the oldest mill in the Nordpfalz region in terms of its existing structure.

To reach the summit of the "Teufelsrutsch" mountain, you can ascend (or descend) a small path from the valley. It is steep but beautiful – almost alpine in character.

A beautifully designed space that's truly inviting and is also used intensively. There's also a rest area. The site is located on several Nordic walking trails.

It is an old mill in the Wiesbach Valley near Flonheim. It was first documented in 1315 and granted water rights in 1355. These rights have been used continuously to this day. It has changed hands frequently. In 1734, the Galle family settled here. They were Mennonites and had therefore emigrated from Switzerland. They built the mill and a house, three vaulted cellars, and the barn above. In 1849, the mill was sold to the Trapp family, who made numerous improvements to place the mill on a wider foundation. In 1960, the mill finally ceased operations. The current owners have converted the mill into a winery. However, on Mill Day, the old mill can be visited.

It is a 1.6 km circular trail between Bell Church and the gravel pit. Numerous panels provide information about the geological development of the former coastal region, when the Mainz Basin was flooded by a subtropical sea 30 million years ago. This area was the coastline. A surf cliff was excavated above the trail, but after the research was completed, it was filled in again to preserve it for posterity. The Beach Path of the Senses and the three coastal paths are definitely worth a visit.
