The West Egan Chutes Trail is a short out-and-back trip that follows an old forest access road and ATV track through the woods. Watch your step for any exposed tree roots and rocks and have offline navigation ready as the trail lacks official trail markers and safety guardrails, requiring hikers to exercise caution near steep drop-offs.

The trail gets less defined at this point and there are several logging roads that branch off to the right. Generally, if you stay to the left and follow the river, you will find footpaths that lead you to the river banks and a view of Farm Chute, where you can explore before tracing your way back to the trailhead.

Roads are very sandy so your progress will be slow and painful. It's better to push then fall and hurt yourself.

These parts of the Highlands are unique opportunity to experience nature at it's best. Wild life spotting is great. If you zoom in one of the pictures, you will see beaver swimming right infront of me. There are no villages, stores or people anywhere around. Be prepared to be self-sufficient for day or two. Stock on food before entering. Water is in abundance around you, use your filtration system to purify it. At the end of the segment is perfect camping spot on Sleeper Lake. Enjoy and respect
