Stiftung Lesen review: A little mouse strolls through the forest, enjoying life. And then she meets a fox, an owl, and a snake, one after the other, who all cordially and certainly without any ulterior motives invite her to their homes. Fortunately, the little mouse wasn't born yesterday. And so she politely but firmly declines the invitations – because she already has a date: with the Gruffalo! He has terrible claws, teeth, tusks, and paws and loves to eat fox skewers, snake puree, or owls with icing. No wonder the would-be hosts quickly disappear. And the mouse is having a great time because she just invented the Gruffalo! Or did she?? A wonderfully rhymed read-aloud fun at its finest, which inspires not only children from approx. 5 years with a lot of imagination, wit and subtlety.
