May 22, 2026, Castell de Vilafortuny

Located on Avenida Vilafortuny and classified as a heritage site, it is actually a 12th-century defensive and military building. The castle is situated on a hill near the coast. The side tower of the building, called Torre del Homenaje (Tower of Homage), is also a defensive structure. The castle was restored in the 1990s and is now used for weddings, baptisms, and communions. Its total area is 1,665 m². https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vilafortuny

Of course, Cambrils is one of the most famous seaside resorts on the Costa Dorada, but this charming town has more to offer than just sea and sand. For sea and sand lovers, Cambrils boasts a coastline of no less than eleven kilometers, spread across a total of nine beaches.

The Castellot del Montmell hermitage, dedicated to Sant Miquel, is a small Romanesque gem from the 11th century located just below the remains of the castle. Despite its simple and half-ruined state, it still preserves part of the apse and the original walls, which speak of a time when this was the spiritual and defensive center of the area. Getting there by MTB is quite a challenge: the path is stony and with very steep sections, and you almost always have to walk the last few meters. But once at the top, the view compensates for any effort - with the entire Montmell mountain range at your feet, the open Penedès and, on clear days, the sea line in the background. The hermitage, despite its condition, transmits silence and history, as if it were still watching over the ruins of the castle.

From here you have a beautiful view of Cambrils and the harbour. If you follow this boulevard towards the west, you walk towards the centre of Cambrils where many cosy restaurants and terraces can be found.

The path is extremely easy and relaxed along the beach. There are bungalow complexes and tourist hotspots for miles. If you like the high mountains, you won't like this. But it is very relaxed, especially at the beginning of April when there isn't much going on here.
