Józef Haller (born August 13, 1873 in Jurczyce, died June 4, 1960 in London) was a Lieutenant General of the Polish Army and one of the key leaders of the independence movement. He played a significant role in the formation of the Polish Legions (for a period serving as their acting commander), commanded the Northern Front during the Polish-Soviet War (participating in the Battle of Warsaw, among other battles), and was Inspector General of the Volunteer Army in 1920. He was a co-founder and first chairman of the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association. After the war, he remained in exile, where he served as a minister in the government-in-exile.
