It was built in 1883 for a paper mill; the wooden dam was replaced by a concrete and steel structure in 1935, which raised the lake level by about 12 feet. Washougal Waterfront Park is a beautiful, small park along the Columbia River. The park has kayak/canoe vehicle launch and a child's play area, but has no other facilities.
