Holy Name of Jesus Church – Lierop The imposing Holy Name of Jesus Church in the center of Lierop was built between 1890 and 1892 based on a design by Carl Weber. The Neo-Romanesque cross-domed church, with its four towers and a dome over forty meters high, is visible from afar. Inside, you'll find beautiful stained-glass windows and period details from the time of its construction. It's a lovely starting point for a walk through the tranquil Brabant landscape.

The coffee corner is no longer there. However, there is a beautiful B&B. You're welcome to relax on the cozy terrace with a delicious cup of coffee from the coffee corner or stay overnight in an apartment. Feel free to visit the website for more information: hoevedenbolck.nl

From Beek en Donk, it's practically one straight road to Tilburg, with excellent bike paths that are often nice and wide, making overtaking easy. You can cycle at a leisurely pace, but you can also really put your foot down, as many sections look inviting to increase your speed considerably. On many stretches, I'll go up to 42km and then just keep going. Okay, I'll do that on a 3-wheel recumbent bike—two wheels in front and one wheel in the back—with a substantial electric-legal assist.

The Lourdes Grotto was built in 1934, with permission from Bishop Diepen. The statue of Our Lady of Lourdes, which is housed in the grotto, is 1.80m tall and stands 4.50m above ground level. The grotto was consecrated on May 30, 1935, and attracted thousands of pilgrims. The polyphonic hymns were played through loudspeakers. The Lourdes Grotto in Mariahout was built in 1936-1937 by Father Van Eindhoven. By the end of the twentieth century, the grotto had fallen into serious disrepair. In 1998, it was completely rebuilt. Many volunteers from Mariahout contributed to the project. On May 30, 1999, the grotto was blessed again. Many people come to pray and light a candle. Especially in 2008, when the pilgrimage site of Lourdes celebrated its 150th anniversary. Moreover, the parish also celebrated its 75th anniversary that year.
