Stubbing Pond's history is connected to the industrial past of the Wingerworth area. The pond was created as a source of water power for various activities, including the operation of a smithy. The dam for Stubbing Great Pond was constructed around 1700. From the pond, one can see Stubbing Court, the ancestral home of the Hunloke family.

This Western section of the wood is on the side of Bole Hill. Beautiful & quiet amongst the trees, there are plenty of Bluebells in April & May. Drop down into the lower section of the wood to find the stream

A natural causeway made of stones leads you over the beautiful River Hipper and through the woods. Watch your footing here as the rocks can get slippery!
