We did this as part of the last stage of the South Downs Way. A reasonably tough climb, especially several miles in to day 2 of a 2 day hike.

This is quite a challenging walk, we got to the Birling Gap car park early to set off , please note that the cafe opens at 9.30am. The views were breathtaking, everywhere you looked. We stopped at the visitors centre and refuelled and continued the walk, again every footpath had a view, we can across another little cafe stop and continued on. My husband and I both agreed this has been our number one walk and will definitely be doing it again π

Hire your Mountain bikes from here (including ebikes). There's a workshop here too. Full of vintage bikes and classic jerseys. It's also home to Windover Bikes.

This is a beautiful nature trail. The path by the Cuckmere river is good and where the trail meets the Cuckmere river is a fantastic photo spot opportunity. The views up and down the river is gorgeous. This is especially so on a nice day like we had.

A very steep section of steps with nice views from the top. We do this hike every day and bring a bucket of water and a brush to wipe the chalk graffiti off the steps!π

Wonderful place to view the Seven Sisters cliffs and stop at the cafe for a coffee and lunch. The beach can be accessed via a stairwell, but be careful with the tides so as not to get stuck there.

Friston Forest is an expansive beech woodland with a network of excellent bridleways and mountain bike trails. This is a straight well-surfaced track linking West Dean with Friston. Itβs a much safer and scenic alternative to the main road.
