The Malga Lessinia is a historic mountain hut in the Lessinia Natural Park (Veneto region) at an altitude of 1,616 meters. The building is located near Erbezzo in the province of Verona and today serves as a popular refuge and gastronomic establishment for hikers and mountain bikers. The stone building was erected in 1915 during the First World War as a barracks for Italian border soldiers (Finanzieri). The border with the Austro-Hungarian Empire ran only a few hundred meters away at that time. From 1945 onwards, the complex was used as a mountain pasture for livestock grazing and cheese production. Since the 2000s, the hut has combined traditional dairy farming with a traditional snack bar and restaurant.

Alpine hut in a beautiful location. Too bad you can no longer buy fresh cheeses. The alpine hut gnocchi are excellent.

It probably gets its name from 'ice'. It's nestled in the valley floor with high slopes to the east and west and, especially in winter, sees very few hours of daylight.

Malga Lessinia is and remains one of the first mountain huts that began to serve food to the public, it always remains a guarantee, summer and winter

Here too you can enjoy the classic view of the smooth panettoni of the Lessinia, then a look towards Podesteria and one towards the Ronchi valley

Always an interesting route, starting, in my case, from Thiene, along the Val Logra to Pian dell Fugazze (the last stretch from the Balasso refuge is a bit challenging). Then I took the road that leads to the CAMPOGROSSO refuge, with a stunning view of the CAREGA mountain range. After a stop at the refuge, I descended towards Recoaro. However, once I reached the village of Merendaore, I followed a narrow, partly paved road that passes through rustic villages to reach Valcalda, from where you can easily reach Staro and the Valli del Pasubio.
