The climb to get to San Lorenzo is tiring, but the efforts are rewarded by the views and the tranquility of these hills.

Between the Lavino and Samoggia streams, this ancient church near San Lorenzo in Collina took on its current appearance in the 15th century. The rose window and Renaissance cloister make it one of the most fascinating in the Bolognese Apennines, despite the fact that frescoes relating to the life of San Lorenzo were erased – a few centuries ago.

Great House of the Jew: The structure owes its name to the Jew Salomone di Gaglio, a wealthy man, who arrived in Oliveto in 1393, settling in the inn of the castle and opening the first bank in the Bolognese Apennines. The business was very successful, so much so that it came to serve the territory of the Lavino, Samoggia and Panaro valleys. Given the success of the bank, Salomone had the large house of the Jew built and attracted many other Jews to Oliveto who in the years to come formed a thriving Jewish community. This community, unfortunately disappeared when in 1428 Oliveto was besieged by troops commanded by Jacopo Caldora. Short name of the sanctuary of the Santissimo Crocifisso in the Parish of Saints John the Baptist and Benedict of Tizzano, the Hermitage of Tizzano was built in the 17th century at the behest of the Camaldolese monks. Located on a hill at an altitude of 243 meters, the hermitage offers a splendid view of Bologna and Casalecchio.
