September 22, 2026, Peschiera del Garda Railway Bridge over the Mincio

The Peschiera del Garda railway bridge over the Mincio was built during Austrian rule in the Kingdom of Lombardy–Venetia. Construction of the Milan–Venice railway line began in 1841. The bridge was designed by Giambattista Bossi and completed and opened in 1854. It has seven brick arches and was directly integrated into the fortifications of Peschiera. In addition to the railway, carriages and pedestrians could also pass underneath. In World War II, the bridge was heavily damaged or destroyed by bombing in 1944 and subsequently rebuilt.
