Torre Nostra – Torrenostra (Torreblanca) Former 16th-century coastal watchtower. Part of a visual defense system along the Mediterranean coast to protect against pirate attacks and corsairs. Visual contact with neighboring towers, alarm signaled by smoke and fire. Solid construction with thick natural stone walls, small openings, and elevated access. Multiple levels with a simple interior layout for the guard and supplies. No residential comforts – purely military function. Now a listed building (Bien de Interés Cultural). Not a residential building, no permanent museum use. Interior largely empty, occasionally accessible for visits or cultural events. Originally freestanding on the coast. The present town later grew up around the tower, integrated into the promenade and residential development. Significance today: Historical landmark, Visible evidence of the former coastal defense, Contrast between military past and tourist present.
